Artist: Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughan
Released: 1999
This album had me intrigued from the moment I saw the cover photo. I am not extremely knowledgeable on blues music, but I did know how Albert King was, but when I saw him and then the incredible Stevie Ray Vaughan, together, I knew I had to hear it!
And it turns out, I was right. Here is a snippet of what this album is from, and it completely explains why this is an album that you have to truly listen to from the first track to the last. And you need to get some headphones so you can make sure to hear the banter between the two, as I think it really adds to the feeling the album provides.
From Wikipedia:
In Session is a blues album by Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughan recorded live for television on December 6, 1983, at CHCH-TV studios in Hamilton, Ontario, when Vaughan was 29 and King was 60.
When you put this album on, you feel transformed back to the mid-80s, standing in the shadows behind the tv camera as it records these two amazingly talented artists just taking queues from each other, and telling stories.
The release I purchased is the 2010 release, which only has 7 of the tracks from the original release. Probably the one that I can just sit and listen to over and over again, is Blues At Sunrise. It is a bit of 15 minutes of these two greats just going back and forth. Brings a smile to my face every time I hear it!
